GOS Grant Evaluation Criteria FY2024/25
This application is for tax-exempt organizations with a minimum of five years of operations and promote artistic endeavors or have significant arts programs within their organization. Request an amount according to your general operational needs. NOTE: Your amount is a request. Chapman Cultural Center decides the final amount at their discretion.

An organization that receives a high score (25 points) in the following sections will fulfill the following criteria:

Evidence of Artistic, Scientific, Historic (ASH) Merit (25%)
- Programming serving a large, diverse audience
- Professionalism, experience, and qualifications of staff and artists engaged in the organization
- Commitment to diversity in artist and program selection and access to programs
- Clear creative vision and relevance to organization and community
- Proof of ongoing evaluation of programming and plans to adjust programming accordingly
An organization that receives a high score (25 points) in the following sections will fulfill the following criteria:
- Best practices in financial management, DEI, strategic planning, and governance
- Strong Board governance with regular oversight of finances and strategic goals/development
- Qualified staff with expertise and proven ability to fulfill the mission of the organization
- Commitment to diversity and equity in board and staff recruitment
- Programs that support local artists, were relevant and responsive to community needs, address current issues and concerns
- Improving cultural vitality by striving to collaborate with a broad range of community groups in a variety of settings
- Educational and outreach programs that increase awareness, access, and inclusivity in the experience of arts and culture
- Evidence of efforts made to diversify your audience, participants, board, and staff
An organization that receives a high score (20 points) on the following pages will fulfill the following criteria:
- Presentation of a clear and realistic budget with evidence of financial sustainability
- Strong financial support from the community, demonstrated through diverse revenue from contributions, earned revenue, and sponsorships
- Organization has operating cash reserves of at least 3 months
- Previous year surpluses are invested in the long-term health of the organization and used when appropriate for long-term goals that further mission and programming
